A Stunning PAIR of Vintage Mid-Century Modern “PLONA” Leather accent / lounge Chairs by Giancarlo Piretti for Castelli
Made in Italy, circa 1960s/70s. This striking chair features a black leather seat atop an aluminum folding frame. It remains in all-original, very good vintage condition, showcasing a beautiful patina on the leather and authentic signs of age and use.

Giancarlo Piretti (b. 1940, Bologna) studied at the Istituto Statale d’Arte in his hometown before joining the renowned furniture manufacturer Anonima Castelli. His designs embody a blend of space-age innovation and practical functionality, with many of his seating creations designed to fold, stack, or adapt to the sitter’s weight.
The Plona is among Piretti’s most celebrated works. Its sculpted square seat and sleek, folding aluminum frame highlight his talent for combining comfort with a strong industrial aesthetic.
