Made in the 1940's and marked 'Made in Occupied Japan' this pair of vintage serving bowls would be a great addition to your collection of Blue Willow dishes.
A true Blue Willow pattern must have the following components in its illustration: three men, a boat, a fence, a weeping willow, an island, a pagoda, an orange tree, birds, a bridge, and borders on the outside and inside edges of the plate. By the early 19th century there were many variations of the design being produced, but all with these items included on each piece.
Measuring 10"L x 8.5"W x 1.5" H, these dishes are in very good condition with no scratches or cracks. There is a small chip on the underside of one of the dishes (see photo) which does not show at all on the top/front of the piece.
