This exquisite hand-woven kilim captures the vibrant nomadic soul of Anatolia with its beautifully textured flat-weave aesthetic. Crafted entirely by hand, it brings a rich, earthy energy and timeless bohemian charm to any modern interior.
History:
Hailing from the nomadic Mut region of Southern Anatolia, this distinctive textile reflects a centuries-old weaving tradition adapted for a rugged, mobile lifestyle. Woven in the 1960s, artisans utilized durable goat hair for the foundation and organic wool for the vibrant embroidered surface to withstand the elements. Color Palette & Design Insight:
Deep Red · Vibrant Orange · Emerald Green · Royal Purple. This kilim's low profile and incredibly durable goat hair foundation make it exceptionally versatile for high-traffic areas or under swinging doors. Whether displayed as a striking textile wall hanging or used as a vibrant entryway accent, its vivid geometric contrasts instantly elevate the room's character.
Motifs & Symbolism:
This vibrant Mut weaving centers around a powerful protective diamond medallion, traditionally utilized by nomadic weavers to ward off the evil eye. The field is framed by dynamic "running water" (su yolu) zigzag borders, symbolizing the vital importance of water to the migrating tribe's survival. Intricate hooks and geometric angular extensions represent the ram's horn (koçboynuzu), a classic Anatolian emblem of power, heroism, and fertility.
Care & Clean:
Vacuum gently without a beater bar, rotate for even wear, and use a rug pad; spot clean with mild soap and lukewarm water when needed.
