A hand-colored intaglio print from limited-edition photogravure copperplate etching after watercolor by Richard Rummell (New York, 1848-1924), copyright 1907 by New York photogravure printing company W. T. Littig & Co. Printed by Littig on heavy wove paper. Small vignette of one building and hand-lettered title in lower margin. Littig commissioned Rummell to paint many panoramic watercolors of campuses and towns, which he presumably sketched from a hot-air balloon! This is an original intaglio print, not a photograph or lithograph and not an Arader Galleries modern restrike.
Black wooden scoop frame, with narrow gold inner border, 3/4" wide x 3/4" deep. Three-point wire support system. Image 13 3/8" high x 27 1/4" wide. Overall 24 1/8" high x 37 1/8" wide. Backed with corrugated cardboard and torn brown paper; should be professionally reframed with conservation-grade materials.
