Chandelier suspension in the style of the italian designer gaetano sciolari (born in 1927). Structure in wood and chrome metal, decorated with 5 globes in murano tinted glass. Edited by mazzega (1929-1983) in the 1970s. In good condition with some slight traces of wear on the metal. The origin of mazzega glassware dates back to 1929, when romano mazzega created a small company in murano bearing his name. The factory produces high quality parts, but above all inspired by the work of its competitors. In 1937, the romano mazzega house was sold to aureliano toso, who renamed it vetri decorativi rag. Aureliano toso. The following year, romano mazzega opened a new glassworks, the fratelli mazzega, in association with his brother gino and sister maria. The company took the name of I.v.r. (industrie vetrarie riunite) mazzega, around 1950. The post-war period offered mazzega the opportunity to develop degli angeli, a cooperative of artists founded in 1950 in murano: pablo picasso, marc chagall, jean coartistique considerable with the execution entrusted to the prestigious master ermanno nason of a series of creations based on the projects of contemporary artists among the most famous solicited by the fucinacteau or georges braque. At the same time, it welcomed independent designers, such as luigi scarpa croce, aldo bergamini, carlo scarpa and renzo burchiellaro. From 1958 the company I.v.r. Mazzega had the painter gianfranco purisiol as artistic director. During the four years of his presence at mazzega, he developed a very original glass art where the whimsical variety of forms integrates and fully enhances the successful characteristics of the house style: luminous colors, diffused softened, in the intimacy of a magnificent crystal. This glassworks ceased all activity in 1983.
