The amulets depict zoomorphic subjects—serpents, tortoises, and other fauna—that held deep ceremonial meaning for the Lobi people. The manufacturing process involves sculpting in beeswax, surrounding the model with successive clay layers, subjecting it to heat so the wax evacuates through channels, and introducing molten bronze into the hollow mold. Each resulting bronze bears the distinctive patina acquired through age and traditional use. Ranging from 3.75" to 4.25" in height, these three distinct pieces represent individual expressions of Lobi spiritual artistry and constitute significant ethnographic acquisitions for serious collectors of African metalwork.
