Early 20th Century N. Indian Amritsar Carpet ( 17' x 22' - 518 x 671 )
This is an extremely well designed large allover pattern ivory antique Indian carpet. The field design is classically derived with its wriggling cloud bands, mobile split arabesques, floating palmettes, and wiry vine tendrils. The border is a very slightly different cream color, with elegant palmettes connected by spiral vines and a millefleurs of almost recognizable blossoms.
