19th Century Caucasian Karabagh Gallery Carpet ( 7'4" x 19'9" - 224 x 602 )
The town of Shusha in the Karabagh was famous for the best quality antique pieces such as this fine c. 1860s rug with an elongated, slender pole medallion on a navy millefleurs ground with matching ivory corners. The navy border displays a flowing rosette and three flower vinery scroll. Very large gallery carpets are a Karabagh specialty.
