Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797–1861) – Kaishō Hō (Xie Bao), the Twin Tiger – Original Japanese Woodblock Print, One of the 108 Heroes of the Suikoden, c.1830
Authentic Edo-period woodblock print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, from his iconic series Tsūzoku Suikoden Gōketsu Hyakuhachinin no Hitori (“One of the 108 Heroes of the Popular Suikoden”), circa 1830.
Depicts the hero Kaishō Hō (Xie Bao), the Twin Tiger, accompanied by his brother and hunting companions.
Signed Ichiyūsai Kuniyoshi ga with publisher seal Kagaya Kichibei.
Printed in rich natural pigments including early Prussian blue.
Mounted in a gold frame, overall size 16" × 21" (please excuse any studio glare in the glass)
Minor toning and wear consistent with age; fine color and strong impression.
