Chinese Knotted Blue Antique Wool Rectangle Room Size - Peking 1900s Rug, Circa Date: 1900s. This exceptional example of early 20th-century weaving represents the refined aesthetic of Peking production. The use of high-quality wool and traditional knotting techniques ensures its status as a desirable piece among antique rugs.

The striking palette is dominated by a saturated, deep indigo field, a hallmark of desirable blue color rugs from this period. This rich hue provides a dramatic contrast to the wide, pale apricot border, which features delicate, subtly rendered vine and floral motifs, softening the overall composition.

The main field showcases a sophisticated, monochromatic design where scrolling tendrils and large stylized blossoms create a dense texture. This complex arrangement, known as an allover pattern, ensures visual interest across the entire surface without relying on a central medallion.

Measuring generously, this piece is classified as a room size rug, making it perfectly suited for anchoring a formal living space or dining area. Its exceptional scale and enduring quality make it a foundational element for any collection seeking authentic early 20th-century Chinese textiles. See less
