These antique pedestals from Indonesia have squared bodies, which have been created from reclaimed Merbau wood which has been carbonized by a high heat treatment, giving it a wonderful rich, black patina and improved strength and resistance (hence the name "ironwood"). The tops are primarily smooth and flat, with bodies having open crevices, providing a wonderful texture. These 19th century carbonized-wood pedestals, each standing just shy of 2.5 feet in height, would make fabulous display pedestals for art, or wonderful drinks tables within a seating arrangement See less
