This lovely vintage piece features a copper pan with exquisite repoussé detail and a decorative turned wood handle. European winters can be brutal, and traditionally bassinoires served as an essential tool for keeping warm at night. Hot coals would be placed into the bassinoire’s vented pan, and the user would use the handle to pass the pan under the covers to warm the bed.
