A richly sculptural antique French majolica wine chiller dating to the turn of the 20th century. This cylindrical earthenware vessel features a high-relief cluster of deep cobalt-blue grapes with green and ochre leaves, applied by hand against a warm yellow-glazed ground. The form is completed with a rolled rim and integrated side handles, and the interior retains its original terracotta glaze.
The base is incised “France” and bears a separate impressed maker’s mark reading “FAV,” consistent with export-period French barbotine production of the late 19th to early 20th century. Both decorative and functional, this piece may be used as a wine or champagne chiller, umbrella stand, or statement vase.
A classic example of French vineyard-themed pottery, well suited to country French, Art Nouveau, or traditional interiors.
