A painterly, Post-Impressionist oil landscape showing a lyrical view of a sunflower field with haystacks beyond, all beneath a bright summer sky filled with light-suffused cumulus clouds.
Ole Kielberg first attended Copenhagen's Royal Danish Art Academy where he first studied with the classically-trained landscape painter, Aksel Jørgensen and, subsequently, with the noted modernist, Kræsten Iversen (He then moved to Paris (1933-4) where he attended the Maison Watteau and studied under Othon Friesz, Marcel Gromaire and Charles Despiau (1933-34). Kielberg undertook numerous journeys throughout Europe to further his understanding of the principles of modern art, including to Berlin (1930); Paris (1931, 1933-34); Sweden (1933, 1934); Norway and Sweden (1937); Berlin, Dresden, Munich and Innsbruck (1937) and England (1973). He also painted regularly in Italy beginning in the 1950s.
Ole Kielberg was the recipient of numerous prizes and scholarships, including the CarlsonPrize (1935, 1950), the Charlottenborg Auction Scholarship (1947), the Academy scholarship (1953), the Eckersberg Medal (1959), the Zahrtmann Scholarship (1966) and the Thorvaldsens Medal (1978). He exhibited widely and with success, including at the Royal Danish Academy (1930, 1933-35, 1983), Helsinki (1941), Oslo (1946), Charlottenborg Museum (1952, 1957), Aarhus State Art Museum (1985-86) and regularly at Haagen-Müllers Galleries, Copenhagen from le Kielberg is well-listed in both Weilbach's and Benezit's definitive dictionaries of artists.
