Coming to fruition as a direct response to previous neoclassical and romantic styles that were popular among the upper classes in the 18th century, this new design style shifted the needle away from ormolu-heavy, grandeur. What emerged post Napoleonic Wars was a strong preference for clean, geometric lines. Little to no inlay decorates Biedermeier style furniture. Instead, heavy emphasis is placed on unique burl or grain patterns and striking contrasts of wood colors. This period of furniture making and artistry placed more value in the everyday, common life than ever before. The early to mid 1800s heralded the birth of the true "middle class" and for the first time in modern history, an average person could afford fine furniture.

Elegant yet funky, Biedermeier furniture blends seamlessly into nearly every home decor style. Its clean geometric lines and stunning wood contrasts and patterns bridge the gap of both masculine and feminine styles.
