It … Read more This artwork "Still Life with Flowers" 1960 is an oil painting on canvas by American artist Ralph Anderson, b.1929. It is signed and dated at the lower right corner by the artist. The artwork (canvas) size is 24 x 18 inches, framed size is 32 x 22 inches. Custom framed in original wooden grey/brown wash and gold frame. It is in excellent condition. Please NOTE that the darker area on top and left of the painting is not a part of the artwork, it is the shadow of the photographic light.

About the artist:
Born in 1929, Ralph Anderson's creative work was largely influenced by the 1930s. The period of the 1930s is epitomised by the conflict between a number of political ideologies, including Marxist Socialism, Capitalist Democracy, and the Totalitarianism of both Communism and Fascism. Surrealism continued to dominate in Europe, and had influence on an international scale. Artists such as Frida Kahlo and Diego Riviera in Mexico, worked to integrate the ideas posed by Surrealism into their revolutionary political philosophies, developing a new kind of magic realism.
