Swiss Black Forest Carved Easel Frame, ca. 1880–1900
Finely hand-carved walnut easel-back frame of tall arched form, richly pierced and detailed with birds, leafy branches, and rising-sun cresting. Original dark stain and back support intact. Exceptional crisp detail and fine patina. Height 19", width 9". The frame is in excellent structural condition, with a good, untouched dark patina. Most likely made in the Brienz region of Switzerland or southern Germany, circa 1880–1910.
