Grand Tour bronze of resting satyr after a Greek marble attributed to Greek sculptor Praxiteles. large bronze with the armature to be carried on a swivel base now missing. Highly popular in the ancient with 115 copies found. The young satyr is shown standing in a resting pose against a tree trunk and arms rest on the hips. Fully modeled with Fig leaf cover.
The size is 28.5" tall by 10.25" in diameter. Very strong casting, very good weight.
