Large antique Anglo Indian porcupine quill and ebony box, c.1880
Made as a local folk art in Ceylon, now Sri Lanka, using naturally shed quills. Inset into a box in a geometric pattern. The interior has a lift out tray which has 9 lidded compartments that were often used to hold spices. Good overall condition with all quills and dots intact. Recently waxed and polished.
