Antique English tole painted biscuit tin lamp, c.1880
Made from a ratafia biscuit tin painted in a dark green with gold writing and highlights. Ratafia biscuits are small almond flavored cookies. These tins would have been found in stores selling confectionery and other food items. The tin has been mounted on a wood base and converted into a lamp. Recently fully re-wired and in working order. Good antique condition with minor dings, dents and paint wear. Includes new cotton lamp shade, H:10” W:15”. Tin height is 11”.
