It … Read more This artwork "California Landscape" 1967, is a large oil painting on canvas by noted California artist Bill Shaddix, b.1930. It is signed at the lower left corner by the artist. The canvas size is 40 x 30 inches, framed size is 56.5 x 46.5 inches. Framed in a wooden ornamented brown/silver frame with fabric liner and
brown/silver color bevel. It is in excellent condition, the frame have very minor restorations, practically invisible.

About the artist:

Bill J. Shaddix was born in Oklahoma on November 30, 1931. Shaddix grew up in poverty in the Dust Bowl. His family moved to southern California in the 1940s. In 1956 he became the deputy sheriff of Orange County, California while painting in his leisure. A self-taught painter, as he gained fame, he soon became a full-time artist. His early works are mostly southern California landscapes; whereas, he later found inspiration in the Rock Mountains. He settled in Phoenix, Arizona where he continues painting the romance and lore of the cowboy and Indian era.
His paintings can be found in many museums throughout the country and continue to be acquired by collectors world-wide! See less
