Its distinctive low, wide silhouette with three raised feet gives it a sculptural presence on display, while the warm ivory crackle glaze introduces subtle depth and texture admired in the finest Satsuma ware.

The surface is richly hand-painted with two elegant bijin in patterned kimono strolling through a riverside garden of pavilions and trees — a classic expression of elite Meiji aesthetics.
