WONDERFUL JAPANESE IMARI / ARITA WARE DINNER PLATE
MID 19TH CENTURY

About 9 1/2" diameter x 1 1/4" deep.
DESCRIPTION
Beautiful Japanese dinner plate with scalloped edges, central blue panel, surrounded by gilt-lined green, blue and rust red floral, foliate and bird panels. Tripod drying marks visible verso. Six character Chinese mark verso reading Tai Ming Chenghua Nian Zhi, meaning roughly "Greatest Ming Chenghua maker." Japanese Arita kilns often adopted Chinese-style marks especially during the late Edo (19th century) and Meiji (1868-1912) periods.
CONDITION
Overall excellent. No chips, dings, cracks or crazing (all visible in the images). A LOVELY 19TH CENTURY JAPANESE IMARI PLATE IN MINT CONDITION!
