A pair of highly unusual Chinese Ancestor paintings sitting on throne chairs in a formal pose. Rank badges, pearls and colourful fine robes adorn them as is correct. Chairs draped with fine drapes.
High quality giltwood frames of faux bamboo, cream silk border and mustard coloured felt surround the actual paintings which to the best of our knowledge are gouache on silk. Weaving is clearly visible behind the glass - see rank badge photographs.
Colours are still vibrant.
Batik style backdrop, each is signed with a chop / stamp.
Mid 20th. Century. 1950/60's.
