The grand Cape May hotel opened in 1908 and the original owner quickly defaulted less than a year later, eventually the hotel was sold and the name was changed to the Admiral Hotel. By the 1930s the hotel was out of business for good. With 350 guestrooms, the hotel was the largest and the finest on the Jersey shore. It boasted central heating, electric lighting throughout and completely fireproof construction (purportedly the first such hotel in the world). A rare piece of Jersey Shore history!

In excellent condition for a piece that's 100+ years old, no dents or damage. Some light surface scratches, bumps, and small marks you’d expect from old hotel silver that was used daily. extremely mild tarnish/patina without any wear to the silver plating. Engraved with a beautiful hotel crest on the top, marked as made by Reed and Barton on the base.
