Elevate your collection with this captivating, rare, original and limited out-of-print lithograph, from Skira’s, Geneva Paris, Painters of the Twentieth Century Cubism and Fantastic Art, Simultaneous Windows, by Robert Delaunay, part of the Jean Cassou Collection, Paris.
Robert Delaunay was a French painter who is often considered the first French artist to create a completely abstract picture. His work frequently featured colorful, geometric forms, with notable series depicting the Eiffel Tower and circular discs. He and his wife were known for co-founding the Orphism art movement, which is a style of abstract art that emerged from Cubism but is distinguished by its use of bright colors, geometric shapes, and a focus on movement and light.
"Simultaneous" works is the creation of Simultanism, a technique he and his wife, Sonia incorporated into their art. They developed this theory based on the scientific idea of simultaneous contrast of colors, where colors change when placed next to others. Their goal was to represent the modern world's dynamism by using contrasting colors to create a sense of movement, rhythm, and light in their paintings, which included subjects like the city and its electric lights.
In the mid 1900’s, famous artists and publisher Albert Skira collaborated on this book/artist portfolio to include limited edition prints, often from the artist’s private collection, that were unbound and could be removed and framed.
