Capiz shell shade + Danish Modern walnut table lamp, circa 1960s. An exquisite and uncommon combination of materials and forms that are complementary and please the eye.
Capiz shade miraculously has very little wear with perfectly patinated brass structural elements, which has lovely detail and wonderful texture. The turned walnut base is weighty and has a luxuriously smooth hand feel. There are two areas of the base that have fine, yet very stable separations of note.
A sizable piece that presents almost as sculpture with light that filters through the shade, creating shadows and catching light, sometimes refracting it through space. The base feels more permanent and sculptural, as a perfect counterpart to the lightness of the shade. A magically lovely combination of materials and shapes.
