My Petrolia line of vases is inspired by industrial forms, in this case galvanized steel oil cans. These are made from flat sheets of steel, folded into practical shapes for pouring oil into tight spaces. I particularly admire the cleverly formed handle (see last photo for an example of this).
I follow the oilcan method with rolled out clay slabs instead of steel sheets. My glaze formula recalls galvanized steel. I add a dash of anthropomorphism to the basic oilcan form to create this proudly chest-out figure ready for oil pouring or flower holding.
This listing is for the smaller vase shown in the photos. The taller vase is available in a separate listing.
