Batard’s so-called “Postmodern Cartoon Expressionism” was a gritty fusion of calligraphy, cartoons, and 1970s street art. The subject is rendered here as a swirling, organic form in black and brown tones against a creamy yellow background, recalling ink and pencil drawings, whiskers, and furballs.
