Each print is … Read more Enchanting pair of 19th century hand-colored stipple engravings of parakeets by French illustrator Jacques Barraband (French 1767-1809). Each print is mounted and framed with a giltwood frame behind museum quality acrylic. "La Perruche á bandeau Rouge" (red-banded parakeet) and Famille de la Perruche á front Jaune" (yellow fronted parakeet). Published 1801-1805 in Levailiant's Histoire Naturelle des Perroquets. The stipple engravings are finished by hand with vibrant, strong color and delicate tonal gradation with age appropriate foxing and toning on the paper as seen in photos. Expertly matted and framed behind museum quality protective acrylic in a gilt wood frame. Sold as a pair. From an estate in the Napa Valley, California. Sight measures 10" wide by 13" high.
