Made of mahogany, … Read more This charming desk elegantly embodies the refinement of the Louis XVI style, revisited under the Second Empire. Made of mahogany, it seduces with its balanced proportions and the richness of its ornamentation. The top has rounded corners. It is highlighted with inlaid brass threads that frame new black leather, delicately adorned with a gilded vignette. This top is bordered by a finely carved ingot mold, decorated with Greek motifs, bringing a classic and sophisticated touch. On each side, this desk has sliding pulls, also upholstered in black leather with a gilded vignette, allowing to enlarge the work space while maintaining the aesthetic harmony of the whole. The apron of the desk also has rounded corners, adorned with striated plates. It gives the illusion of three drawers, when in reality it is a single large drawer, cleverly hidden. These fronts are decorated with brass rods and fillets, and the drawer is adorned with Louis XVI-style drop handles, which reinforce the noble character of the piece. This desk rests on four tapered legs, the upper part of which is adorned with a wide collar, while the stopped fluting is trimmed with brass, testifying to meticulous cabinetmaking. The spinning top feet, also brass-plated, ensure a neat finish and perfect stability. This desk is much more than a functional piece of furniture: it is a decorative piece, ideal for enhancing a classic interior or creating a subtle contrast in a contemporary setting.
