This numbered serigraph by John August Swanson was completed in 2000 in Los Angeles, where the artist resided, worked, and died. it was pu4chased directly from him and framed professionally with a museum-quality solid wood gilded frame that cost as much as the artwork itself. it was cherished for 25 years because of the beauty, majesty and power of presence it contributed to the home. It transmits the confident presence and strength of faith in God that Daniel displayed in the Biblical story which tamed every lion around him.
In the artist's own words: "Daniel is sentenced to a terrifying death, yet he stands quietly in the midst of the wild lions. This ancient story still inspires us by its hopeful message. It connects us to the men and women who confront and oppose the powers in our world that keep people oppressed, the people who 'speak truth to power'. It is relived again and again. I see the story still reaching people with its optimistic message where good wins and hope is kept alive." Quote by John August Swanson.
This framed serigraph was hung on a wall when it was purchased and is still in the same new condition it has been since then. Other than regular dusting, no repairs were needed. It has non-glare glass over it, which makes it clearly visible from any angle. John Swanson's art has increased considerably in value since he passed away in September 2021. This is being offered at less than its cost, including the cost of the custom-made frame.
The documents include a certificate of authenticity, a hand-written note of thanks to the buyer on the paper with the original signature, a copy of a sketch of four lions, and a photo of the artist at work. The artist expressed gratitude to the buyer for having purchased two serigraphs for her home and two to hang in the auditorium of the school where she was serving as principal.
