My heart sinks a little whenever I see children’s crutches from this time period, as I envision a young drummer boy, aged 9-12, being injured during a battle. But then I imagine how excited he must have been to show off his injury and don his new crutch—until his armpit started to rebel—then he would have wanted to throw it in the lake!
The crutch is in great shape—still strong—with plenty of “character” scars! Plus, there were no fasteners or nails used in the making of these crutches.
At Christmas time, these crutches look wonderful in a corner or by a fireplace, accompanied by a little chair or stool—Tiny Tim and the movie, “Scrooge” are holiday classics! See less
