It is signed at the lower right corner by the artist. The artwork size is 29.85 x 22.35 inches, framed size is 43 x 34 inches. Custom framed in a wooden silver frame, with fabric matting and backing. The artwork and matting are in excellent condition, the frame have some damages and will be replaced by a new similar or better silver frame when it is sold, before shipping. Carol Fremlin was born in 1933 and was largely influenced by the 1950s. In the Post-War period the lens of modernism was focused, in terms of international attention, on developments in New York City. The Second World War had brought many important creatives to the city in exile from Europe, leading to a noteworthy pooling of talent and ideas. Influential Europeans that came to New York and provided inspiration for American artists included Piet Mondrian, Josef Albers and Hans Hoffmann, who between them set the grounds for much of the United States’ explosive cultural growth in the decades thereafter.
