This artwork "Mexican Market with Couple" 1976 is an oil painting on canvas by Mexican artist Antonio Vasquez Parra, 1927-1984. It is signed and dated at the lower right corner by the artist. The canvas size is 8 x 12 inches, framed size is 14 x 17.75 inches. Framed in original wooden beige with blue accent frame, with fabric liner. It is in excellent condition.
About the artist:
Antonio Vazquez Parra was born in Taxco, Guerrero, Mexico in 1927 and is best known for depicting the everyday lives of the natives and their struggle to overcome poverty, discrimination and lack of opportunities.
An example of his work is his oil painting Ozumba Mex, which depicts a Native woman with a child on her back and another one on the side. Through his art, Vasquez Parra is fighting for Social Justice, as did many of the Great Mexican Masters and Muralist of Mexico
