It is signed at the lower right corner by the artist. The canvas size is 24 x 20 inches, framed size is 31 x 26.75 inches. Framed in an ornate wooden gold frame with fabric liner and gold color fillet. It is in excellent condition.

About the artist:

Johnny Gaston was born in 1955 in Glasgow the son and grandson of antique dealers. His family moved to England when he was a few months old.
As a child he had a three month stay in hospital and it was during this time he discovered his talent – “I just picked up a pencil and paper and this picture appeared”.
At the age of 10 he entered and won a London art competition with a portrait of John Wayne. The painting was then exhibited in Paris, Milan, Tokyo and New York, where John Wayne himself saw the painting. He approved and signed the back! Johnny Gaston has painted many other celebrities.
Johnny was the youngest ever pupil at the Sorbonne in Paris (aged 14) and the youngest ever master (aged 18).
Johnny used to tour the UK with one day exhibitions. He lives in Leicestershire where he still paints, plays golf and is involved in horse racing.
Johnny was voted the ‘Watercolourist of the year’ in 1998 and 1999, the first time the same artist won more than once. He was also a finalist in 2000. See less
