This 19th century Leather Ammunition bucket has a stunning hand painted Heraldic Crest featuring a fierce Lion and a majestic … more This 19th century Leather Ammunition bucket has a stunning hand painted Heraldic Crest featuring a fierce Lion and a majestic Unicorn flanking the Coat of Arms. White, gold, blue and red are the family colors of the crest painted on the beautiful time worn leather. A substantial leather handle is held securely in place by metal fittings. A monogrammed "N" impression is just below the crest and there are more impressions on the bottom of the bucket. These buckets were used by the British Royal Navy as ammunition or fire buckets. A fire bucket is a bucket filled with water or sand which is used to prevent or extinguish fires.

Definitely a must have for the discerning collector in your life!

Possibilities abound with this handsome piece! Use it as an office wastebasket, an accent piece, a centerpiece, or insert a vase and it could hold a floral arrangement.

Measuring approximately:

13" high to the top of the bucket.
6.5" in diameter
7" wide
2.75" is the handle drop height.

There are gentle scuffs and light scratches in areas. There is some separation on the seams, and age appropriate wear. There are areas where the leather and the paint of the crest are worn, as shown in the photos. These small things do not take away from the beauty of this piece and add to its charm. Antique items have been previously owned and loved, and will show some level of wear consistent with this prior use.
