It also has three later prismatic glass shades that pick up on the fluting of the lamp, and terminate with an attractive stepped rim. The lamp was made in France (or possibly Belgium) in the 1930s or thereabouts.

The lamp gives a strong downlight, and the ribbed shades create a diffused outwards light, making it suitable for general room lighting with little direct glare, especially if paired with smaller “golf ball” bulbs.

It accepts x3 B22 bayonet cap bulbs, and has been rewired and brought up to modern safety standards with 3-core cable. It has been completed with a period-appropriate twisted cable with an old gold woven silk braid.
