Country: germany (likely saxony or württemberg)
period of operation: ca. 1895 – 1918
specialization: luxury plated products (carafes, trays, candlesticks, napkin holders), in the jugendstil style (german art nouveau)
⚙️ materials: electroplated silver-plated alpaca (neusilber), sometimes with glass or crystal accents.
a punch with a caduceus (a scepter with wings and snakes) and the letters "iki" in a pointed shield is the company's trademark.
the caduceus was intended to symbolize:
"purity and nobility" of the metal and elegance (it is also an ancient symbol of commerce).
the gothic-shaped shield was intended to emphasize the craftsmanship tradition and the luxurious nature of the products.
⚙️ the sojak is made of:
alpaka (german silver, also known as neusilber)
silver-plated using the electroplate method (e.p. / e.p.n.s.)
this is the same type of metal used by wmf, bruckmann, kayserzinn, orivit, and other german art nouveau manufacturers.
creation date: ca. 1895 – 1915
style: art nouveau (jugendstil) – oval base, decorative handle with floral motifs.
i.k.i. Collaborated with wmf and orivit, supplying some of the designs and castings.
some of their products were exported – that's why the signature is simple, without german words like "versilbert" or "i/o."
the carafes, however, i think are suited to this style. They may have been part of a different set.
