This … Read more This is a truly stunning English late Victorian hand-painted and inlaid shaped satin wood sideboard, circa 1880 in date. This splendid crossbanded cabinet is made of the finest quality satin wood with a striking flame effect. The top features a stunning hand painted oval panel with celestial cherubs at play. The shaped cupboard door has an exquisite hand-painted oval panel to the centre in the manner of Angelica Kauffman. The panel shows a pair of Classical ladies dressed in peiord clothes within a naturalistic peaceful landscape holding a sketch book. The warm colours and splendid reddish nuances give the panel a touch of cosiness and candour. The central door opens to reveal a spacious cupboard with a central shelf and it is raised on elegant square tapering legs with lovely spade feet. The panels either side of the door also have beautiful hand painted panels depicting classical ladies with musical instruments. It comes with the original working lock and key. This stunning piece is in excellent untouched condition and the quality and attention to detail throughout are second to none. Add a touch of unparalleled elegance to your home.
