Watercolor on paper realized by William D. Raffel in 1959. Hand signed and dated lower right. Good condition with signes of time on edges. Ein Hod is an artists’ village located in northern , on the slopes of , near the city of Haifa. It was founded in 1953 by painter and architect Marcel Janco, one of the founders of the movement Dada. The village was created in an abandoned Palestinian village (Ayn Hawd), which was transformed into a residential and creative hub for artists from all over the world. It includes studios, galleries, workshops, museums, exhibition spaces, and homes for artists. It is considered Israel’s main artists’ village — unique in the Middle East. It has hosted painters, sculptors, ceramicists, printmakers, musicians, and writers, encouraging international cultural exchange. Today it is still home to more than 150 resident artists. It also houses the Janco Dada Museum, dedicated to Marcel Janco and the Dadaist movement. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
