this artwork, never before on the market, comes from an important european private collection
every item of our gallery, upon request, is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by sabrina egidi official expert in italian furniture for the chamber of commerce of rome and for the rome civil courts.
"the decoration commonly known as ‘lodi’ has its roots in 18th-century doccia and is actually composed of two motifs: small roses and a ribbon of leaves.
the “rosette” motif, or rather “scattered rosettes”, was already in use in doccia in 1780, as evidenced by several documents and some bastard stoneware cups from the same period.
the rose motif is a 18th-century european decoration, initially with oriental features and then increasingly simplified until it became a simple flower bud.
it was sèvres, in particular, that set the trend, followed by vienna and other european manufacturers in the last quarter of the 18th century. The rose pattern could be combined with different borders, including one with a gold fillet and a continuous ribbon of green clematis leaves, also known as the “clematis” border.
this combination was chosen for the “lodi” decoration no. 1508, perhaps already decoration l. 8. The decoration was produced, in modern production, mainly in the 1950s, which is why there are not many examples today. Similar to the “lodi” motif are the “camelia” decoration (16470), which features a single rose and a purple “vitalba” border, and the “amalfi” decoration (code g00154200), which has several scattered roses and a purple scalloped border (also in the 18th-century style).
other variations with or without a fillet border can be found. These decorations are now out of production."
