This bronze image depicts Hayagrīva in yab-yum with his consort Nairatma, deities of Vajrayāna tantric Buddhism. The composition shows him in a dynamic pratyalīḍha posture, legs apart, his body surrounded by multiple arms brandishing ritual attributes, wings outstretched, and a tiger skin covering his back. His expressive face, with protruding eyes and a gaping mouth, is topped with fiery hair from which emerges a horse's head—a distinctive sign of this manifestation.
Considered one of the great protectors of the Dharma, Hayagrīva is one of the 108 emanations of Avalokiteśvara, the bodhisattva of infinite compassion, whose wrathful aspect he embodies. He is invoked to repel obstacles, demons, and harmful forces that hinder spiritual practice. Tibet, 19th century or earlier.
Very good condition, with a missing anchor pin under the left legs, which does not prevent the work from being held in place.
