Excellent piece of meissen porcelain of the 18th century: four cupids in cloths grouped together with a billy goat lying … Read more Excellent piece of meissen porcelain of the 18th century: four cupids in cloths grouped together with a billy goat lying on the ground, a cupid crowned with vines sitting on the animal's back and holding grapes aloft, another boy sitting in front of the animal on the ground and feeding it, another cupid next to it on the ground leaning on a basket full of grapes, and the fourth boy leaning against a tree trunk and enjoying the grapes. On an elongated earthen base with gold-heightened rocailles. Designer: johann joachim kaendler (1706 - 1775) was chief sculptor at the meissen manufactory from 1742 to 1775. He is the most famous modeller meissen manufactory ever had and created famous series such as shepherd figurines, comedian's children, gardener children (with acier), paris town criers (with reinicke and meyer), gallant figurines, etc. Model 2499 was created in the year 1757.
