Signed and artist chopped / hall marked fine Yixing Zisha unglazed teapot topped with a Lucky Chinese Peach finial/knob atop of it. Detailed teapot with hallmark on the inside of the lid. Dark rich brown clay, dark red decorative leaves on the body. Detailed knobbly twig spout and handle.
Tea pots are unglazed to allow the teapot to absorb the aroma and flavour of the teas.
Carefully hand made in China by artisans in Dingshuzhen area.
No chips or cracks. A tactile and superior piece for any teapot collector or collection.
Carved wood stand included in price.

Yixing teapots have been made since the 16th century, and there has been a steady stream of known potters since the Wanli period (1573-1619) The Pottery Capital produces items of all sizes, vessels, roof tiles, porcelains, and most important of all, the zisha or purple sand teapots and objects for the scholars table. The term Yixing ware generally refers to the latter - teapots and vessels of rustic elegance long sought after by tea drinkers and scholars of China!
