The piece features an artistic free-form rim that flows organically around the perimeter, achieved through a multistage artisan process: after the rough shaping of the blank, the carver defines the wavy rim by gradually removing material with curved gouges and spokeshaves, then hand-sands through successively finer grits to refine the contour and reveal the smooth, tactile finish.
