Chinese huaniao scroll, a bird and flower scroll in inely drawn and detailed, drawn, colored inks on shimmering, gold paper, mounted on a shimmering, light gold, silk brocade in a ripple, moire pattern. The scroll is signed, with a poem in Chinese Kaishu script and numerous red seal marks in various shapes and sizes scattered about the upper image. The scroll has a white cord makio and kakio at the top and black jikusaki at the bottom. The outer scroll cover repeats the mounting. Circa Republic of China era, no later than mid century.
The image size is 26.75" wide x 52.5" high.
Three, finely drawn, Chinese egrets forage on the shores of a shallow pond near an old tree, stump riddled with holes, amid grasses, flowering peonies and chrysanthemums and a branching plum tree overhead.
