Description
A sumptuous hand-modeled porcelain vase by Zsolnay of Pécs, richly adorned with applied rosebuds and openwork foliage. Each flower and leaf is individually formed and attached by hand, demonstrating the exceptional craftsmanship for which Zsolnay was celebrated at the turn of the century. The tiered form rises gracefully on three petite feet and culminates in a scalloped rim lavishly lined in fired gilt. Subtle celadon and cream tones beneath the pink roses lend depth, while the pierced design allows light to play through the lattice for remarkable dimensionality. Underside carries the Zsolnay Pécs five-tower mark with the impressed oval 'MADE IN AUSTRIA HUNGARY,' dating the piece to the late nineteenth or very early twentieth century.

Collector Notes
Zsolnay’s applied-floral and reticulated pieces from this period represent the height of the firm’s Art Nouveau innovation. The degree of handwork required made each piece unique, and examples that survive with strong color and intact petals are increasingly prized by collectors of Central European decorative arts. The dual marks of Zsolnay and the Austria-Hungary export stamp confirm authenticity and pre-1918 manufacture. Comparable pieces of this caliber have achieved strong results in both European and American decorative-arts markets.
Styling Notes
Luminous and romantic, this vase reads as both sculpture and vessel. Its intricate surface captures light beautifully, making it ideal for display in a vitrine, on a console, or as a focal point on a mantel. Pair with gilt-framed art, cut crystal, or blush-toned textiles for a cohesive, elevated vignette.
