American Masonic Needlework Sampler, c. 1880s
Worked by Gertrude O’Conner of Harvey, Illinois, for her husband Benjamin D. O’Conner, Lodge No. 832. Embroidered with classic Masonic imagery—the All-Seeing Eye, celestial and terrestrial globes, square & compasses, checkerboard pavement—and motto “Trust in God.” Retains its original 19th-century frame and glass, together with a period label documenting its maker, lodge, and descent to Lyle B. Cameron (1977). A rare, well-provenanced example of American Masonic fraternal folk art. Made by Gertrude O’Conner, Harvey, Illinois, circa 1880s. For Benjamin D. O’Conner, Lodge No. 832. By descent/gift to Lyle B. Cameron (1977)
