This is an original oil landscape by me, L Haas, painted on 12″ W × 6″ H × 0.25″ D oil on masonite panel, signed and unframed. I spent time in the charming village of Mendocino along the Northern California coast, walking its streets and soaking in the coastal light — this piece began from those impressions and the feeling of color and form that lingered with me afterward.

In Mendocino Village I let the shapes and hues of village rooftops, sky, and water influence the brushwork in a way that’s expressive without being literal. The compact format invites the viewer in, rewarding close looking and quiet observation, and feels especially at home in settings that welcome subtle narrative and painterly presence.
